The BEST Travel Snacks

Even when I’m not traveling, snacks are a big part of my life. When I am traveling, they’re at the top of my priority list (right after my camera gear and water).

These snacks made it onto my list, not just because they taste good (they do) but because they have all the qualities I look for in the food I rely on to keep me going:

  • High Calorie to weight ratio

  • High in protein

  • High in unsaturated fats

  • High in complex carbohydrates

  • High in salts

Now this is a sustainable travel blog, and you’ll notice that not every snack on this list comes in sustainable packaging. some even come in *gasp* single-use, individually wrapped packages. The ultimate shame.

I try to minimize my snack waste by buying in bulk and decanting into smaller containers whenever possible (you can read more about that in my post on zero waste travel essentials: snacks edition). And the items I still by individually wrapped I consider essential and will upgrade when I can.
