Mount Taranaki: The Hardest Hike I’ve Ever Done

Mount Taranaki on the North Island of New Zealand seems like an easy hike.

Hey, it’s supposed to be easier than the super-popular Tongariro Passing (Mount Doom form Lord of the Rings), and a good substitute for the ~Mount Doom Feel~.

The main path up Taranaki is a mere 6km to the top. There’s no way a hike that long could be too hard, right?

Wrong.

Mount Taranaki isn’t your average mountain trek. This innocent-looking volcano has some fun tricks up its sleeve- and a trail that ends in a snow-filled crater in the middle of summer.
